Types of bleaches for automatic washing machines
Bleaches can be chlorine-containing or oxygen-containing.

"Whiteness" has a number of advantages:
- effective bleaching even in cold water;
- cheap product;
- ease of use: does not require boiling, easy to dose;
- Disinfects and effectively removes stains.
Oxygen-containing bleaches
They are a solution of hydrogen peroxide. They also contain active surfactants, stabilizers, fragrances, optical brighteners, and pH regulators.
Advantages of oxygen-containing bleaches:
- The main advantage of peroxide bleaches is that they can be used not only for cotton and linen fabrics, but also for wool, silk, and synthetic materials.
- Coloured fabrics become brighter and fresher when using oxygen bleaches, dirt deposits are washed away, and dyes are not damaged.
- They can be used with any washing powder without fear of chemical reaction.
- The hypoallergenic nature of oxygen-containing bleaches makes them superior to chlorine bleaches because they do not harm the human body.
- The products also have disinfectant properties.
They are sold in both liquid and powder form.
Peroxide bleach solutions are short-lived: they lose their beneficial properties when stored for a long time, while powdered bleach lasts much longer.
Powdered oxygen bleaches whiten laundry at temperatures of at least 60 degrees Celsius. However, delicate fabrics and colored items can lose their original appearance at high temperatures. Therefore, it's better to use liquid peroxide bleaches for colored items. These are significantly gentler than powdered bleaches and are gentle on colored and delicate items, without damaging the fabric or altering the pattern.
Optical brighteners
Optical brighteners are another category of detergents that improve the cleanliness of fabrics. However, it's important to note that their apparent whiteness is imparted to clothing by the fluorescent dyes they contain.
Can chlorine bleach be used in a washing machine?
The disadvantages of chlorine bleach are:
- aggressiveness: over time the material tears and turns yellow;
- Do not bleach wool, silk, or synthetic fabrics;
- It has a negative impact on metal and rubber. To prevent the aggressive sodium hydrochloride from corroding the packaging, "Belizna" is packaged in plastic bottles at the factory;
- Some women cannot tolerate the smell of bleach: it causes an allergic reaction;
- When interacting with some washing powders, "Whiteness" becomes more aggressive, which causes corrosion of the fabric.
Before deciding whether chlorine bleach can be used in a washing machine, you should take a look at the instructions for a particular brand.
Chlorine bleach is generally not used in machine washing machines. Each model's instructions will tell you whether it can be used. If the machine has four compartments, it's suitable for bleach.
In machines where rubber hoses have been replaced with plastic ones and the drum is made of high-strength material, we use chlorine bleach.
Instructions for using chlorine bleach in a washing machine
If chlorine bleach can be used in a washing machine, then you should follow the instructions for use.
- First, inspect the garment and remove all metal parts. If they can't be removed, don't use bleach in the machine wash, as it will darken the metal.
- Wet the items and place them in the drum.
- It's best to pour "Belizna" into the detergent drawer: 125g for a small load of laundry and 250g for a full load. The exact dosage is one tablespoon per liter of water.
- Add washing powder. It's needed for both washing and bleaching.
- However, if you decide to add chlorine bleach to the drum, dilute it with plenty of water beforehand to prevent the harsh chemical from damaging your laundry. It's best to pour it into a container to ensure even distribution across the clothes.
- Set the washing machine to the "Stain Removal" mode. The washing temperature should not exceed 45 degrees Celsius.
- If there is no need for washing, then set the “Rinse” mode.
- You need to rinse your laundry several times after bleaching.
- Wring out the laundry.
Where to pour bleach in a washing machine
Your washing machine has a container for pouring any bleach and laundry detergent. In modern washing machines, the container typically consists of three compartments. It's important to know exactly what each compartment is used for and what detergent to use.
The quality of washing clothes will depend on the correct filling of the sectors.
Washing machines have a pull-out or removable drawer. If the washing machine is a front-loading machine, the drawer is located on the front or top panel.
If the appliance is a top-loading model, meaning the hatch is located on the top, the container is located on the inside of the lid. The tray is usually equipped with a button that allows you to remove the compartments and clean them.
Let's take a look at what these compartments are and which compartment of the washing machine to pour bleach into.
One of the compartments, the smallest one, is for rinse aid. There's a limit stripe on the compartment. In most cases, the sector is labeled "Max."
But there are other markings, too. Different manufacturers have different markings. Most often, it's an asterisk or a flower, and it might say "Softener." Fabric softeners, conditioners, and antistatic agents are poured into this compartment (the liquids).

The largest section is the main wash compartment. It may be marked B or II, but if not, pay attention to its size. This compartment holds shampoos, gel detergents, stain removers, machine-wash bleaches, and laundry detergents.
The location of the compartments varies by manufacturer.
Where to pour chlorine bleach
If your washing machine is designed for chlorine bleach, it has a special compartment for it. The drawer should be pulled out completely.
Pour "Belizna" into the special compartment, which you insert into the pre-wash compartment. To avoid overfilling, there's a limit mark on the compartment.
Cleaning a washing machine with bleach
Sometimes, if you don't follow the rules for using your washing machine, an unpleasant odor may appear that is difficult to get rid of.
A musty smell may appear if:
- You put dry, dirty clothes into the washing machine, gradually collecting more and more laundry, and only after all your chores, when you are free, do you wash;
- After washing, you do not dry the drum, the sealing rubber, and keep the door closed;
- You are using a low-quality detergent or a washing powder that is not intended for your model of electromechanical device. The soap residue left in the drum will cause mold fungusThere is an unpleasant smell coming from him.
A musty smell coming from your washing machine is a warning that it needs to be disinfected to kill harmful microorganisms and bacteria inside the machine.
Never load a bad-smelling laundry into a washing machine, otherwise it will acquire the same odor as the machine. The ingrained mildew smell on your clothes and bedding will haunt you for a long time.
There are 2 ways to get rid of unpleasant odors in the washing machine.
- Add bleach-free laundry detergent to the drum compartment and set the machine to a high temperature of 90-95 degrees Celsius, but do not add laundry. This cleaning method should be performed every six months. After washing, wipe the drum and seal dry. Leave the door open.
- Pour a liter of "Belizna" into the main wash compartment and set the cycle to 90-95 degrees. Once the door warms up, pause the washing machine or turn it off completely. Let the machine sit for an hour or two with the "Belizna" detergent, then run the drain and rinse cycle, adding vinegar to the fabric softener compartment. Run a second rinse cycle without adding any detergent.
You can also clean your washing machine with Amway oxygen bleach. Pour 100 ml into the main compartment and run it at 60 degrees Celsius without any laundry.
Washing with oxygen bleach in a washing machine
Many modern washing machines now have a built-in "Bleaching" program. If your washing machine has one, sort your laundry first. Prioritize underwear: briefs, bras, and tank tops.
Don't wash bed linens with towels, tulle with clothing, or colored fabrics with white ones. Cotton items can be bleached together, for example, socks and T-shirts.
- We put the laundry into the drum.
- Pour powder into the main wash compartment.
- We wash clothes in a certain mode: tulle and thin fabrics in “Gentle mode", we set the bed linen to "Cotton".
- After washing, add or pour oxygen bleach into the special compartment marked with a triangle and set the “Bleaching” program.
If your washing machine is not equipped with a special bleaching program, the instructions for making your laundry whiter are different.
Dry bleach for washing machines
As mentioned above, powdered oxygen bleach is only effective at temperatures between 60 and 90 degrees.

Sometimes powder bleach is supplemented with substances that whiten laundry at 40 degrees Celsius. Of course, this type of bleach is expensive.
In this case, we pour the washing powder into the pre-wash compartment and the bleach into the main compartment. Select the pre-soak cycle and wash.
How to use liquid oxygen bleach in a washing machine?
Liquid bleach can be used during, rather than after, the wash cycle. It can be added to the bleach compartment, diluted slightly with water, after the detergent has dissolved.
Tips for the best way to bleach laundry in your washing machine
To whiten your linens better in the washing machine, soak them in a solution of one tablespoon of ammonia and two tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide for 30 minutes, then wash them in the washing machine with bleach. Your bed linens and net curtains will be sparkling white.
To remove stains from kitchen towels, soak them overnight in the following mixture: vegetable oil, oxygen bleach, soda, washing powder (3 tablespoons of each product).
The next day, wash on the Quick Wash cycle. You'll be surprised how clean and white they become.
Today we told you how to use bleach in your washing machine and where to add it. We hope our tips helped you turn grayed and yellowed items into crisp whites, and restore their vibrant, fresh color to colored items.

Next to the detergent compartment is a compartment for fabric softener. We only wash with it. After spinning in Indesit, clothes are almost dry; they only smell of fabric softener, no other odors. It's a fantastic washing machine.
Hello, Roman.
Can you tell me how to bleach laundry when washing in an LG F4M5TS3W machine?
This washing machine doesn't have a separate bleach compartment (there are only two – one for detergent and one for fabric softener). Thanks in advance.
