General information
Important! It is prohibited to place a washing machine in living areas, specifically living rooms. This is because it is impossible to ensure adequate ventilation and waterproofing in these areas.
Tip! Choosing a top-loading washing machine can help you save space. They're more space-efficient and don't spoil your home's decor.
Options
Bathroom
The bathroom is the most common and convenient option; there is no need to install any extra communications.
If the bathroom is small, there are several solutions for where to place the washing machine.
- Under the sink

You can save space under the sink by installing the drain away from the sink. A downward-facing drain takes up a lot of space.
If the sink is located high, you can raise the washing machine to the desired level. A pull-out cabinet or shelf would be perfect underneath. Additional storage space
To ensure your washing machine doesn't clash with your interior design, install a dedicated cabinet. This will keep your "helper" out of sight. Your bathroom will look more cohesive and beautiful.
- Next to the washbasin
By placing the washing machine next to the sink and covering everything with a single countertop, you'll create a cozy space. This will leave room for storage drawers or shelves.
- Above the bathtub
Installing a washing machine above a wall requires choosing a strong and sturdy shelf. It must be able to support the weight of the machine.
- Next to the shower stall.
If the above options are not suitable and a bathtub is not essential for you, installing a shower stall will save a lot of space.
You can separate the washing machine from the shower stall by installing a partition. It can combine functionality and originality. By adding some finishing touches, you'll create a designer piece.
There will be space above to install a cabinet, shelving unit or drying rack.
Toilet
If space allows, this is another installation option. If possible, relocate the toilet to create even more space.
The advantages of installing a washing machine in the toilet are as follows:
There's no need to run utility lines. Everything is close by. And if you choose a washing machine model with a drain that connects to the toilet, installation will take minimal time.
- The toilet is less humid than the toilet. This increases the lifespan of the machine.
- The room is more ventilated than the bathroom.
Kitchen
Installing a washing machine in the kitchen is not uncommon. Kitchens offer plenty of options.
Most often, a washing machine is placed in a single line with other appliances (stove, refrigerator, dishwasher) in the base cabinet frame. To keep the look simple, I recommend choosing all appliances in the same color.
If this isn't possible, built-in appliances will help. While not the most budget-friendly option, they will add style and polish to your kitchen.
Important! It is recommended to place the machine at least 45 centimeters away from the refrigerator and stove.
If you have a bar counter or island in your kitchen, you can place the washing machine there.
Short on space? Then a tall cabinet is your solution.
Some kitchen layouts feature alcoves, which is another clever layout idea.
The space under the windowsill in the kitchen is another placement option.
Hallway or corridor
Ideally, you'll have a dedicated cabinet for it. This will allow you to create a mini laundry room with storage shelves.
There's a downside to installing a washing machine in a hallway or corridor: all the necessary plumbing needs to be installed.
Tip! Placing the utility lines through the wall next to the bathtub or toilet will make it easier.
Wardrobe
If your apartment has a walk-in closet, I recommend placing the washing machine there. This will significantly save space in the bathroom.
The downside is the need to lay communications, ensure sufficient ventilation and waterproof the floor.
No matter how small your apartment, there's always a suitable accommodation option. I hope this article was helpful and helped you make your decision.
