Since the start of the special operation in Ukraine, many well-known European and Asian brands have either left Russia or significantly limited their supply of household appliances to the Russian market.
We're used to living in our comfort zone and don't think about where the goods we buy come from. For example, household appliances are manufactured by European, Chinese, Asian, and American companies. Furthermore, these products are also produced in the CIS countries. For us to be able to choose the right appliances, they first need to be delivered to our market.
Today, many companies have ceased operations in Russia.
Some have left forever, while others are forced to support anti-Russian sanctions or have chosen a policy of restrictions based on the economic situation.
There's a lot of conflicting information on this topic, but the list of brands is constantly growing. In this article, we'll discuss the companies that will remain in Russia, those that are no longer on the domestic market, and what's happening around here.
Samsung
This is one of the most popular companies specializing in the production of computer and home appliances. Samsung produces refrigerators, microwaves, televisions, kitchen ovens, split-systems, and more. The South Korean brand has limited the supply of its equipment to the Russian market.
However, official Samsung retail chains remain open. This means that equipment that arrived before the sanctions were imposed will continue to be sold. It can be purchased on the company's official website or in brick-and-mortar stores. It's important to understand that there will be no new products from this brand.
Currently, European and US sanctions do not affect Samsung's interests. The suspension of deliveries is due to logistical issues. In the current situation, it will be difficult to establish new product deliveries to the Russian market, but the company is making every effort to address this issue. Should the political situation change in the future, this will favorably impact the import of Samsung household appliances into Russia.
It's worth noting that service for Samsung products in use, as well as warranty service, is also available. It's provided by certified centers located in many Russian cities.
Of course, Samsung products will soon become more expensive. Pricing is significantly impacted not so much by sanctions as by the rising dollar exchange rate. Retail chains are forced to raise prices just to stay afloat.
LG, also a South Korean company, offers a worthy alternative to Samsung. The quality of these products is no worse than Samsung's. The manufacturer has its own production facility in Russia (in the Moscow region).
Companies continuing their operations in the Russian Federation
There are numerous reports of companies leaving the Russian market en masse, but not all of them are reliable. Here's a ranking of household appliances from some companies that continue to operate in our country:
- Bosch Group – German brands. These companies produce household appliances (refrigerators, vacuum cleaners, washing machines, freezers, etc.). Currently, the company's factories continue to operate in our country, and there are plans to import equipment from abroad;
- ElectroluxSwedish home appliances manufactured under brands such as AEG, REX, Westinghouse, Electrolux, and others. The company offers a wide selection of all types of home appliances. Electrolux products are not subject to sanctions and will be imported into Russia;
– PhilipsThe company produces televisions, computer equipment, electric razors, and other products and has no plans to leave Russia. The company has not yet announced any specific plans regarding new supplies; everything will depend on the current situation. Currently, it is not possible to ship goods to Russia from either European countries or China.
The companies listed above continue to operate in our country; however, there are problems that cannot be solved by the manufacturers themselves (logistics, shortages of parts and elements needed in the production process).
The future of Turkish home appliances from BEKO and Vestel remains unclear. Vestel's production facilities are used for many brands, including Toshiba (Japan). Vestel is currently one of the largest television manufacturers in Europe.
Household appliances of Russian production
Against the backdrop of Western sanctions and the departure of well-known brands and manufacturers of luxury household appliances from Russia, Russian representatives have the opportunity to offer the public domestic equivalents.
Expensive Samsung or LG refrigerators may be replaced by Russian brands like Biryusa, Stinol, or Atlant (made in Belarus). Biryusa, a refrigerator manufacturer, has been a well-known name in the market since Soviet times and is one of the country's largest manufacturers of household appliances.
Russian televisions are also quite competitive and are practically on par with foreign products.
For example, the Rubin and Novex brands, as well as televisions produced in Belarus: Vityaz, Skyline, Horizont.
