The Zanussi company was founded in 1916 by Antonio Zanussi, an Italian blacksmith's son. Zanussi began by manufacturing wood-burning stoves in northeastern Italy. By the 1930s, wood, gas, and electric stoves had already been manufactured in the suburb of Pardenone.
