Washing machine door malfunctions
You can try unplugging the washing machine and waiting about half an hour. If that doesn't help, then the only options are repairing the washing machine door or replacing the unit.
Malfunctions can be different:
- the door glass may be broken;
- the latch is faulty or jammed;
- the loop on the support breaks;
- There is a problem with the hatch locking device.
In this case, repairing your washing machine door yourself isn't difficult. It just requires patience, time, and proper preparation.
But sometimes the module itself fails and the problem is more serious – in the electronics.
Preparation
What do you need before starting the repair?
- Understand what this device is and how it is made.
- Know some of the nuances that technicians use when repairing equipment.
- Necessary tool (depending on the breakdown).
- Materials and spare parts.
Problem with UBL

If there is no cable, then the lock is released in a different way. The top cover of the machine is removed and it is tilted back to move it slightly. drumAfter this, the retainer is moved to the side by hand.

Using a screwdriver or knife, push the center of the string between the door and the hatch near the lock. Then, pull both ends until the thread or fishing line is pulled inside the car. After this, pull the latch back and you'll hear a click. The door is open.
To replace the old UBL with a new one you need:
remove the retaining ring;
- put away cuff on the right;
- unscrew the screws that hold the device in place;
- remove the UBL;
- insert new.
Latch repair
A common cause of latch failure is the formation of nicks on the lever that enters the hole.
Fixing a latch isn't difficult. There are two options: if the latch can be removed, it can be removed. If not, the entire door will have to be addressed.
The door unscrews and can be placed on the table for convenience.
- Next, you need to file down the notch with a file or needle file.
- Apply graphite lubricant. Be sure to remove any excess to avoid damaging the laundry during washing.
- Door is installed in place.
Glass damage
If the glass is damaged, you'll need to purchase epoxy or polyester resin. Removable glass in the door is rare. Otherwise, repairing the washing machine door is a bit more complicated.
- The front is covered with polyethylene tape. It's important to ensure there are no gaps.
- The hole that requires repair is covered with reinforcing tape used in plastering work.
- Next, the resin is prepared from the required proportions of base and hardener in a separate container.
- The prepared resin is poured into the damaged area.
- Polymerization occurs within 24 hours and only then can the polyethylene film be removed.
- The drips are removed with sandpaper.
Nothing complicated, just a little effort and the machine will open.
Plastic support defective
To repair the support you will need:
Take it off.
- The broken part is fixed using a vice.
- You will need a nail with a diameter of 4 mm, which is cut to the required length.
- A hole with a diameter of 3.8 mm is drilled through the support.
- The nail is heated to approximately 180 degrees Celsius and held with pliers. It is then inserted into the drilled hole.
- Cooling time 2-3 minutes.
- Next, the door is assembled and installed in its place.
Handle breakage

The broken handle is removed, the new one is inserted and everything is assembled in reverse order.
A few tips: Don't force the door open. Even if the handle isn't the problem, you could break it.
