What's the Best Washing Machine in 2023? Brands, Models, and Expert Advice + Video

Which car to choose?Nowadays, everyone has the opportunity to choose the equipment that suits them not only in price, but also in appearance.

Deciding which washing machine is the best is almost impossible because each one is unique, with its own advantages and disadvantages.

Let's find out in this article which washing machine is the best.

Exploring visual parameters

Modern manufacturers take into account the limited space in the bathroom, and the home appliance market often offers small-sized machines with great functionality.

Therefore, we advise you to first decide on the size of the equipment.

A car in a modern interior

Depth and loading

It will be narrow (no more than 45 cm) or standard (from 55 cm). To do this, you need to choose a place for it and also understand what you will be washing.

When looking for an assistant, it is important to know the parameters to focus on when choosing.

Most cars are equipped with drums with a load capacity of no more than 6 kg, but if you plan to wash a lot of clothes or pillows and blankets, it is more advisable to purchase a machine with a capacity of 7 kg.

The structure of the tank and drumWhile we're on the subject of drums, it's worth mentioning tubs, or more specifically, which tub material is best for a washing machine. There are polymer and stainless steel options.

Polymer tanks are lightweight, silent, corrosion-resistant, and retain heat well, but are easily damaged.

Stainless steel is a time-tested component that has outperformed plastic in terms of performance.

By the way, the easiest question is: which washing machine drum is better? The answer is simple, because drums are always made of stainless steel.

Vertical or frontal?

Washing machines can be designed as front-loading or top-loading. Both options are popular, each with its own pros and cons.

Front or side loadingLet's try to figure out which washing machine load is best.

Front-end machine review

Front-loading washing machines are the most common. Manufacturers are constantly striving to improve front-loading washing machines and expand their potential.

The advantages of purchasing such equipment include:

  1. Low price compared to a top-loading machine.
  2. Candy 1140Possibility of installation into furniture (kitchen set, washbasin).
    For example, Candy Aquamatic 2D1140-07 It fits easily under the sink in a small bathroom. It features an anti-allergy setting and a thorough rinse.
  3. Quiet operation that, if installed correctly, will not wake even a sleeping small child.
  4. The presence of a hatch allows you to control the washing process.

There are two disadvantages:the impossibility of adding more laundry during the washing process and a problem with the rubber gasket that ensures the hatch is sealed during the washing process.

Top-Loading Machines Overview

Top-loading washing machines first appeared in Soviet times. They were ideal and indispensable appliances for small apartments. Today, they are no less popular than front-loading machines.

  1. Top-loading washing machinePossibility of adding laundry during washing.
  2. Small dimensions.
  3. Low vibration.
  4. Child protection (control at the top).

The disadvantages are:

  2. lack of design refinements;

Technical parameters

Efficiency classes…

…energy saving

The most economical in terms of consumption are class A+++ cars.

This matters if the machine will be used frequently, but a couple of times a week will not significantly affect energy costs.

…washing

Since 1995, 6 classes have been recorded – from A to G.

Table of washing classes

…squeezing

It indicates the number of revolutions and which spin cycle is best for your washing machine, depending on your preferences.

At 1500 rpm, laundry comes out with less than 45% moisture and corresponds to the letter A.

At these speeds, items are almost dry, but their appearance often becomes dull and it takes a lot of effort to iron the item.

Table of spin classesClass B is characterized by humidity of no more than 54% at 1200-1500 rpm;

C – humidity no more than 63%, speed 1000-1200;

D – 72% at rpm 800-1000;

E – 81%, revolutions from 600 to 800;

F – 90% and 400-600 rpm;

G – the lowest RPM value – 400 and the highest humidity value – over 90%.

The most common classes are B and C. The machine reaches maximum speed only in the last seconds; usually, in cheap models this takes no more than 30 seconds, in medium-sized models – about 2 minutes, and in expensive models – almost 4 minutes.

Washing programs

Long ago, washing machines offered only two or three wash cycles, mostly for cotton, wool, and delicates.

These days, deciding which washing machine is best is difficult. Manufacturers have crammed the machine with so many features that you don't have time to use them all.

What are the basic washing modes offered by modern appliances?

  1. - List of programs using Candy 100 as an exampleCotton.
  2. – Hand wash and delicate wash.
  3. - Wool.
  4. – Quick wash.
  5. - Pooh.
  6. - Sportswear.
  7. - Dark products.
  8. - Children's things.
  9. - Steam treatment.
  10. - Outerwear.
  11. - Bed sheets.
  12. – Hypoallergenic wash.

And that's not all. Despite the abundance of choice, 99% of the population uses a small number of programs.

Manufacturer

Of course, it's very difficult to choose the best; the personal preferences of the future car owner will likely play a role here. For information, you can look at manufacturer ratings and use that as a guide.

Manufacturers' logos

Every company has its own consumers, and answering the question: “Which brand of washing machine is better?” is not easy.

For example, Bosch is distinguished by good assembly, Samsung by additional features, Indesit by an affordable price.

Additional functions

Eco bubble graphicThere are a lot of them, but the main ones are useful and can come in handy, for example:

  • control system (presence of water quality control sensors, child protection, etc.);
  • Aqua Stop leak protection (necessary and practical, will save your neighbors from flooding and is installed on almost all modern washing machines);
  • direct drive (the drum is driven by a motor, not a belt);
  • Eco bubble (more effective removal of stains due to dissolution of powder before washing);
  • delayed launch.

Price

It can be very cheap, a little more expensive and very expensive.

  1. Cheap models They don't offer a ton of features or bells and whistles. The number of programs is minimal, and the quality of the components leaves much to be desired. The service life of such equipment is 4-5 years.
  2. If we consider the technique a little more expensive, That 4 cars of different price categoriesThe set of programs is already more solid and includes additional functions.
  3. In the expensive category There aren't many models. These machines are durable and last for 10 years or more. The maximum number of features and gentle washing certainly justify the investment, if only because it's not just a machine but an entire laundry room.

Mechanical or electronic control

Electronic or mechanical controlMechanical control involves manually switching modes. This type is simple, but less functional.

With electronic controls, the machine is more complex, but also more autonomous. It weighs the load, fills the water, dispenses the detergent, and calculates the wash time. Afterward, the display shows all the data and informs the "brain" about the wash parameters.

But not everything is so smooth, the machine will not work correctly except in a 220 volt network.

Buying a washing machine is a serious and responsible undertaking. After all, not many can afford to replace it every couple of years. It's usually a purchase for years to come.

  1. Sonya

    Interesting article! I'm planning to replace my washing machine soon.

  2. Xenia

    Yes, the article is really very interesting :) And I just bought myself a washing machine from Hotpoint, it's very pretty, neat, works without a hitch, it's just a miracle)

  3. Andrey

    Well, Indesit is not only known for its low price; many people really love this brand.

  4. umrk

    Thanks for the article

  5. Nikita

    Indesit is probably good not only for its low price, but also for its quality.

  6. Oksana

    I enjoyed the article and agree with many of the arguments presented. The only thing I would add to your review is a mention of the Atlant brand, as this model of washing machines is currently the most popular among buyers. The reason is that Atlant washing machines are more affordable and their performance is just as good. I bought an Atlant SMA 70C1010-18, which is front-loading and can wash up to 7 kg at a time. I'm completely satisfied with my purchase because the clothes are washed very well. Moreover, the washing machine fits perfectly in my bathroom and operates quietly.

  7. Elya

    I can recommend Atlant because I use it myself. I can't say for sure which model, but the machine is high-quality and has lasted for two years without any problems. Other machines break down much faster! In my opinion, Atlant is the best!

  8. BB

    People are showing off their washing machines here, and I don't want to be left behind! I have a Whirlpool—it's a good, reliable machine, and it's been in our house for years. Thanks for the article, by the way, it's very detailed!

  9. Veronica

    Well, it depends on the person... We took Hotpoint, we hadn’t heard much about the brand at that time, and we didn’t regret it.

  10. Tatiana

    I'm no expert, but I can confidently recommend a good washing machine, and it's Atlant! I've had one from this company for three years now and have had no problems at all. Everything is just wonderful!

  11. Catherine

    Personally, I choose the Atlant washing machine; at the very least, it's very reasonable in price; other companies are very price-conscious. Then I pay attention to the wash cycles; my machine can handle everything, although I'm not arguing that almost all of them are. It's very easy to use; if I didn't understand something at first, the instructions explain it in detail. Its energy consumption is okay, of course, but there's no getting around that. I'm very happy with my machine; I still have no complaints, even though I've been using it for almost a year. Incidentally, it's very stylish and modern, and there's a lock mode for children; I immediately noticed that.

  12. Daniel

    I like my Indesit. They really have a reliable machine for every taste and size—and it's quite affordable, too.

  13. Albina

    I've been using a top-loading Candy washing machine for over 10 years now. I think it's much more efficient and convenient than top-loading ones. Of course, one of the main criteria is that it takes up almost half the space (a great option for studios and one-room apartments). Secondly, their load capacity is almost the same, and sometimes even larger, than top-loading ones. As for features, the machine has plenty of them and is quite affordable.

  14. Marina

    My LG washing machine is 14 years old now. It's never failed or broken. Perhaps if I took it apart, I could find a lot of parts to replace, but so far it's working fine. I wash frequently, every other day, sometimes even three times a day. I'm completely satisfied with it. When I change it, I want to go back to LG.

  15. Alexander

    Can I ask a question? Which modern machines have normal cycle times? Let me explain. I currently have an Indesit NSL 605, and it's apparently a complete piece of junk, considering the price/quality ratio. What I don't like is the main feature, like, "2 seconds and it turns on," but it's completely useless. It "turns on" in 2 seconds, and then it takes 10 seconds to turn on the water. When changing the wash cycle, it also takes up to 10 seconds, pauses for 10 seconds after spinning, and sometimes when it tries to load laundry, with the drum spinning slowly, it stops completely, as if there were 100 kg in there. It's noisy, we use two programs, the others are very long. You can't change the temperature, speed, or extra rinse while it's running.
    My mother-in-law has a 2004 Bosch Max 4, which I think has Aquastop. It changes programs on the fly, simply increasing or decreasing the time, speed, adding an extra rinse, and simply adding time. There are no delays between cycles at all. For example, after the spin cycle is complete, the motor turns off, and the water supply starts immediately; it doesn't wait for the drum to stop. The only advantage of the Indesit is that the pump works when needed, meaning if there's no more water during the spin cycle, it turns off, but again, the pump is very noisy.

  16. Lena

    I like the quality of my Hotpoint washing machine; I bought it three years ago. It washes quietly and spins well. And the design is truly remarkable.

  17. Victoria

    Thank you for the useful and interesting article!
    How to choose a washing machine? Washing machines came to the aid of housewives relatively recently, eliminating the arduous labor of washing laundry by hand.

  18. Alice

    I have an Indesit, I don't wash by hand, so everything goes straight into the washing machine. It seems to wash well, although it depends on the detergent. The main thing for me was that it didn't rattle like a tractor. This one is quiet, it suits me.

  19. Maria

    I agree, Indesit washing machines are very popular in our country. When I was buying mine, everyone recommended this brand to me. I can’t say anything bad about it. It washes really well and doesn’t ruin the laundry.

  20. Arseny

    I've found the Whirlpool to be a first-class and reliable washing machine. It's completely quiet thanks to its inverter motor. It washes laundry gently. The price is reasonable.

    1. Pauline

      Arseniy, I completely agree with you! In terms of reliability, the Whirlpool is a really cool and awesome washing machine.

  21. Sofia

    I read it, thanks! And I got myself an Indesit. I'm happy!

  22. Elya

    We actually spent a long time deciding whether to get a top-loading or front-loading washing machine. We ultimately settled on a Hotpoint top-loading washing machine. It's just as good as a front-loading model and takes up little space.

  23. Victoria

    I chose the Indesit EWSD 51031 washing machine. It works flawlessly, no complaints whatsoever. It has many useful options, and a five-load cycle is plenty. It's quiet, which is also a big plus.

  24. Vasya

    It feels like bots are writing comments and advertising their brands.
    I'm looking for a washing machine for under 15,000 rubles to rent out my apartment. Indesit, Beko, Candy, and Atlant are all suitable brands.
    I need something that can be repaired, simple like an AK-47... and also one that can wash.
    Nothing was said about the Candy brand. Are the others equally bad, or is there something better? I didn't like the Atlant refrigerator; it broke twice in three years. The Chinese one should be better and cheaper than the Chinese-Belarusian ones, in my humble opinion.

  25. Anna

    I wouldn't say that vertical washing machines are particularly expensive, at least we got our Indesit at a tempting price.

  26. Oleg

    I disagree with the term "cheap" meaning low-quality parts. My wife and I bought a Chinese Samsung, the cheapest one at 3.5 kg. It lasted 10 years, then the engine died. During that time, I only replaced the belt and pump. Then we had an Indesit, which lasted two years, needed bearing replacements, and after another four months, the control module burned out. I don't know why people praise it so much. Nowadays, China makes even cheap machines quite well. The drum is disassemblable, so you won't have to saw it off if a bearing fails like in the Indesit, and they have plenty of parts.
