Where should I put conditioner in my washing machine? A review of LG, Samsung, Bosch, and Indesit brands.

Wash with conditionerWhere do I put fabric softener in my washing machine? It's essential for laundry; it softens the fabric during washing, preventing clothes from getting dirty as quickly as with a regular wash.

This means you'll need to wash the fabric less often, which will extend the life of any item. Furthermore, using fabric softener will prevent static buildup and leave your clothes smelling pleasant.

How to use and where to add fabric softener when washing in a machine?

Filling up the air conditionerThe product is added directly to the washing machine along with regular detergent. Some housewives use fabric softener with every wash, others add it every time, and, of course, there are those who don't add fabric softener at all.

So, let's say you're using fabric softener in your washing machine for the first time, but where do you add it? When? Before the wash or during the cycle? Let's find out.

Washing machine tray. Washing machines come in two types: front-loading and vertical loading.

Front-loading washing machineIn the first case, the tray for powder and other products is almost always located on the left, rarely on the right.

In the second case, the compartment is located on the inside of the unit's lid. Typically, cuvettes have three compartments of varying sizes and sometimes different colors.

  • The first and largest compartment in the dispenser is for granular powder or liquid detergent. This compartment is labeled 2, II, or B. This is where we put our main laundry detergent.
  • Top-loading washing machinePlace the prewash or soak detergent in the compartment labeled 1, I, or A. This section of the drawer is significantly smaller than the first.
  • The smallest compartment with a flower symbol is for fabric softener. It may also be marked 3, III, or C. The manufacturer sometimes marks this part of the drawer in blue. To prevent the conditioner from being washed out during the wash cycle, the container is removed from the drawer.

When and where to fill up the air conditioner

So, we figured out where to pour the conditioner, now we need to figure out when.

Add conditioner before washingThe easiest way to add fabric softener is at the very beginning of the wash cycle. Load your laundry, pour the detergent and the appropriate amount of fabric softener into the designated compartments.

Don't mix them up! Otherwise, you'll have to rewash everything. And that's another 46 liters of water.

Sometimes, when the wash cycle has already started, you forget to add fabric softener. There's a solution: add the conditioner just before rinsing the laundry.

You can also add fabric softener to the drum, for example, during an extra rinse. Just don't pour it on your clothes, as it may leave stains!

For such cases, be sure to use a separate detergent container. There's no point in pouring fabric softener into the drum before washing; it will simply be washed away with water and have no effect.

In addition to the recommendations in this article, use the instructions for your assistant. If the manual is lost, you can find it online.

There's another way to determine where to pour the rinse aid. Pour the rinse aid into the compartment and run a wash cycle without any laundry. If the rinse aid rinses out after you run the water, you've made the wrong choice—the detergent compartment. If the fabric softener stays in place, you've made the right choice.

This is how you can empirically determine where to pour conditioner in the washing machine.
