    What to do if the washing machine does not drain water?

    the washing machine doesn't drain

    Many housewives face this problem when the washing machine does not drain water.

    This problem may manifest itself in the following ways:

    • drain too slow;
    • at the right time the water drain does not start at all;
    • draining occurs only on some washing programs;
    • Drainage is difficult when rinsing.

    Is the drain not draining? There are two possible causes: a broken drain or a clog.

    Often, a washing machine won't drain due to a clog or foreign object in the drain pipe, filter, pump, drain hose, or drain line. It's also possible that the pump is faulty.

    As you can see, the main reasons why the washing machine does not drain water, are various types of blockages.

    If you decide to try cleaning the washing machine parts yourself, you should first disconnect it from the electrical network.

    First, let's check the filter; it's located on the front panel of the machine, near the floor. Keep in mind that water will leak out when you open the filter, so have a rag or container ready to catch the water. Clean and rinse the filter. If you find any foreign object, that's likely the cause. Once clean and unclogged, reinsert the filter and try draining.

    Cleaning the filter – This is a simple procedure. Almost anyone can handle this kind of repair. But if the washing machine still won't drain, the problem is a bit more complex.

    To check and clean the fitting connecting the tank and pump, unscrew the bolts securing the drain assembly. Remove the fitting, drain the water, and check for any blockages. This can be verified by holding it up to the light or by feeling the fitting along its entire length. If any blockage is detected, remove it and replace the fitting.

    If that doesn't help, you should check the impeller. It might be jammed.

    This part is located behind the filter and can become damaged if a foreign object (even a small object) gets into it. If the impeller rotates without any problems and no foreign objects are found, this is not the problem.

    You can also check the pump yourself to see if it's working properly. To do this, remove the filter and run the spin cycle. While doing this, look into the filter hole to see if the impeller is spinning.

    If the impeller doesn't spin while the machine is running, and you've already checked it for foreign objects, the washing machine isn't draining because the pump is faulty. Only a repair technician can fix this problem by replacing the part.
