The most noticeable elements in a bathroom interior are textile accessories – towels, rugs, shower curtains.
- In our country, towels are rarely chosen to match the bathroom's finish, yet they are an important element of the decor. They are always on display, and it's important to remember that even the most thoughtful design can be ruined by garishly colored towels hanging on the heated towel rail. When choosing towels, it's best to choose neutral, calming tones that complement the bathroom's color scheme.
- Today, a bath or shower curtain is often replaced by a glass partition. However, in some interiors, it's an essential design element that simply can't be dispensed with in favor of clear glass. Typically, a curtain is essential if the bathroom is decorated in a Mediterranean or retro style.
- Rugs not only decorate the bathroom but also make it more comfortable. Stepping onto a fluffy rug when stepping out of the shower or bath is much more pleasant than stepping onto a cold floor. They also absorb water from wet feet, preventing moisture from spreading across the floor. Choose a rug that matches the rest of the decor or provides a contrasting pop of color.
Lighting fixtures
The basic rule for modern bathroom design is to avoid dark areas. Light should evenly flood the entire space, visually expanding the walls and creating a sense of openness and spaciousness. Recessed ceiling and wall fixtures are typically used for lighting today, allowing for thoughtful placement and highlighting specific areas. Mirrors
It's impossible to imagine a bathroom without mirrors. A large mirror is always placed next to the vanity and the sink. Its size and shape depend on the overall design concept: it can be round, rectangular, or complex, framed or frameless, artificially distressed, or decorated with engravings or sandblasted designs.
In addition to the main mirror on the wall, a bathroom can feature mirrored shower doors or cabinet doors, a mirrored wall panel, and even a mirrored ceiling. Reflective surfaces can visually expand a bathroom. However, in a very small space, this technique doesn't work—in fact, it can make the room appear cluttered with too many objects reflected in the mirrors.
Dispensers, holders and other small items
A minimalist bathroom is characterized by smooth, clean surfaces, so small accessories are completely absent. All small items should be tucked away in cabinets and hidden from view, so their color, shape, and material can be anything.
If the bathroom is decorated in a Mediterranean or retro style, accessories take on special significance, creating a unique atmosphere characteristic of this style. Open shelves are filled with various laundry baskets, scented candles in beautiful holders, colored glass dispensers, vases of flowers, and decorative arrangements.
Some tips for choosing accessories
- Avoid buying cheap items, as they will inevitably ruin the impression of an expensive renovation. Furthermore, cheap accessories quickly become unusable, forcing you to buy new ones.
- Combine accessories by color and style. It's best to buy them as a set, so they don't look like a disparate assortment of items on your shelves.
- Pay attention to safety. Electrical appliances must be rated for use in high humidity, and glass shelves must be securely fastened in place.
- Moisture resistance is a key requirement. Avoid items that could deteriorate in the warm, humid atmosphere of a bathroom. Wood, natural wicker, straw, cotton, and rusty iron are all materials that should not be used in a bathroom. If you prefer natural baskets or furniture, choose moisture-resistant rattan.
