"I've gone crazy" – my washing machine is filling and draining water. What should I do?

This type of malfunction can be caused by two reasons:
- either your washing machine is not installed correctly,
- or there was a breakdown.
Whatever you do, you need to take action. Choosing to do nothing won't result in anything good—there's a high risk of completely damaging your washing machine. Is that what you need?
If we consider the first option, we need to check that the drainage system is properly organized. We need to make sure that the hose through which the water drains is located above the tank level. Otherwise, water will flow freely into the sewer, and here's the problem: the washing machine fills and drains water almost simultaneously.
How to ensure that the drainage system is properly organized?

When the machine is installed correctly, the drain hose is positioned above the tank level: Most often, it's attached to either a sewer pipe or a trap, and is always raised about half a meter from the floor. If your washing machine is constantly filling with water, first make sure the hose is in good condition.
It may also be that it is impossible to reach the drain connection point for some reason, for example, a cabinet, screen, wall or something else is in the way.
Then you can do the following:
- Start the washing process and wait until the tank is filled with water.
- After this, activate the drain and pause the process a little later.
- Now watch the water level.
- If it remains constant, the drainage system is fine. If the water level keeps decreasing, the problem with the washing machine constantly draining is obvious.
It would be best to seek help from a specialist who will install your washing machine correctly.
But if you've had your washing machine for a long time, and it always worked perfectly, and now it's suddenly gone crazy, the problem is obviously more serious. Something's broken.
We recommend that you proceed as follows: turn off the power, block the water supply and drain the water from the washing machine using an additional drain filterAnd, of course, seek help from a professional.
Possible malfunctions that cause the washing machine to fill and drain water at the same time
| Malfunction | Probable cause | Price for repairs. |
| The water level sensor is broken. | The water level sensor has likely reached the end of its service life. It measures the amount of water in the tank and, if necessary, signals the inlet valve to fill. It relies on the water column to make this determination. The pressure switch could be clogged with scale or sediment, or its valves and hoses could be malfunctioning. A water level sensor diagnostic will determine whether it can be repaired or whether it will need to be replaced. | Starting from 1400 rubles. |
| The intake valve is broken. | The cause is likely a malfunctioning inlet valve. The membrane may have weakened, or the valve may not be able to hold the water pressure at all. The inlet valve should be replaced. | Starting from 1200 rubles. |
